Closed Loop Medicine is a TechBio company developing combination prescription drug plus software products, with the aim of redefining precision medicine. The Company’s proprietary technology platform facilitates personalised drug dosing optimisation, through integration of drugs and software with patient-led digital experiences and closed loop models of care. This approach has the potential to provide bespoke universal healthcare access and improve outcomes for patients with chronic diseases.
Founded at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge, UK in 2017, and now based in London, UK, Closed Loop Medicine (CLM) has to date raised over £22 million GBP ($30 million USD) in funding since formation in 2017. Investors include Ananda Impact Ventures, BGF, LifeArc, Longwall, Meltwind, IQ Capital, Downing Ventures and Cambridge Angels.
Closed Loop Medicine’s Board of Directors determined a strategic business need to appoint an internationally experienced US-based independent Non-Executive Director to CLM’s Board. As part of a strategic engagement, PIR International partnered with CLM to appoint an Independent Non-Executive Director to its board. As a result of an extensive search exercise, drawing on its board level network across the US and sector expertise, led by Stuart Penney and Sally Hope, PIR International identified and presented a choice selection of highly experienced industry non-executive profiles. Subsequently resulting in the appointment of an experienced health technology innovator, David Van Sickle, former CEO and Co-Founder of Propeller Health, in August 2022 and coinciding with an appointment of a new CFO for CLM.
On PIR International’s involvement in his appointment, David Van Sickle comments: “What a great experience working with Stuart and the PIR team on this position. Thoughtful and supportive throughout, they expertly built a solid foundation of trust and excitement about the company. And they lead everyone through an efficient process that productively encouraged the company to explore a variety of perspectives on the role before helping carry things forward. I’m grateful for the opportunity and eager to start working with CLM to help them progress toward their exciting mission.”
Hakim Yadi, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Closed Loop Medicine, comments:
“Working with PIR was a pleasure, Stuart and Sally worked incredibly well to understand our needs and developed an almost bespoke approach to help us identify a key member of the board, our first independent non-executive director. Stuart and Sally made our job particularly difficult because of the quality and calibre of the final candidates they were able to identify. I would, and I already have recommended working with Stuart and Sally on executive search in the life sciences and technology sector.”
